  • Have a high school diploma or GED, or be a high school senior

Where can the scholarship be used?
Pinnacol Foundation scholarships may be used for four-year, two-year or trade programs at accredited colleges, universities, community colleges and vocational schools in the United States.
What can the scholarship be used for?
Pinnacol Foundation scholarships may be used for approved cost of attendance (COA) needs. The COA is the figure provided by colleges and/or college financial offices that estimates the total costs of attending that particular school for a period of one year.
What degrees can I use the scholarship to pursue?
Pinnacol Foundation scholarships can be used to pursue vocational and trade certificates, associate degrees and bachelor’s degrees. Scholarships cannot be used to pursue master’s degrees or doctoral degrees.
How many years can I be awarded a Pinnacol Foundation scholarship?
Students can be awarded a Pinnacol Foundation scholarship up to five times. Exceptions may apply.
I received the scholarship last year. Do I have to complete the application again?
You must complete a renewal application each year, but this is much shorter than the first-year application. Visit the Apply for a scholarship page for specific application requirements.
Are siblings eligible?
Siblings are encouraged to apply. However, all new applicants will be reviewed independently and evaluated against current eligibility requirements.
I don't have documentation of my parent's accident, but I know it was work-related. What do I do?
Please call the Pinnacol Foundation at 303.361.4775. Often, we can help you locate the information.
Do the scholarship funds come directly to me?
No. The Pinnacol Foundation will send a check directly to the school where you enroll.
I'm an injured worker. Am I eligible for the scholarship?
No; the foundation is for the children of injured workers only.
My parent is deceased, but it is not work related. Can I still apply?
No; the Pinnacol Foundation was created specifically for the children whose parents were injured or killed on the job.
Who reviews my application?
New applications are reviewed by the Pinnacol Foundation's Selection Committee, and renewal applications are reviewed by appropriate staff. Only complete applications will be reviewed. Recommendations are presented to the Pinnacol Foundation Board of Directors, and final decisions are made in April of each year.
When will I be notified if I received the scholarship?
The Pinnacol Foundation Board of Directors finalizes annual awards each April and we will contact everyone who applied, whether they were awarded a scholarship or not. If you do not receive notification of your status by April 30, please contact us.
What suggestions does Pinnacol Foundation have for submitting a successful application?
Applying for the Pinnacol Foundation Scholarship is a competitive process and not everyone is awarded a scholarship.
