Q. Where can the scholarship be used?
You can use the scholarship for tuition, fees and books at any institution accredited by the United States Department of Education or another appropriate accrediting agency. This includes community colleges, universities and vocational training programs.
Q. How often can I apply for the Pinnacol scholarship?
Students can apply up to five times for the scholarship up to age 25.
Q. I received the scholarship last year. Do I have to complete the application again?
You must complete a renewal application each year, but this is much shorter than the first-year application. Visit the Apply for a scholarship page for specific application requirements.
Q. Are siblings eligible?
Siblings are encouraged to apply. However, all new applications will be evaluated against current eligibility requirements.
Q. I don't have documentation of my parent's accident, but I know it was work-related. What do I do?

Q. Do the scholarship funds come directly to me?
No. The Pinnacol Foundation will send a check directly to the school where you enroll.
Q. I'm an injured worker. Am I eligible for the scholarship?
No; the foundation is for the children of injured workers only.
Q. My parent is deceased, but it is not work related. Can I still apply?
No; the Pinnacol Foundation was created specifically for the children whose parents were injured or killed on the job.
Q. Who reviews my application?
New applications are reviewed by the Pinnacol Foundation's Selection Committee, and renewal applications are reviewed by appropriate staff. Only complete applications will be reviewed. Recommendations are presented to the Pinnacol Foundation Board of Directors, and final decisions are made in June of each year.
Q. When will I be notified if I received the scholarship?
The Pinnacol Foundation Board of Directors finalizes annual awards each June and we will contact everyone who applied, whether they were awarded a scholarship or not. If you do not receive notification of your status by June 30, please contact us.
